On May 29, the Day of the Republic of Armenia was celebrated in Buenos Ayres. The Armenian Ambassador to Argentina Vladimir Karmishalyan, Archbishop Gisak Muradyan and the heads of communities laid wreath on the memorial of Sardarapat heroes. The chief editor of Buenos Ayres “Sardarapat” weekly newspaper and the Ambassador Vladimir Karmirshalyan delivered speeches. In his speech the Ambassador noted, “Due to the heroic battles of Sardarapat, Bash Aparan and Gharaqilisa, after 600 years of break, the Republic of Armenia returned to the international stage, as an independent state. Despite its short period of existence, the first Republic managed to form serious preconditions for the development of our country and people.” The event ended with the performance of “Sardarapat” song by the participants.
