FOOD COMMODITY PRICES GROW BY 0.2% IN ARMENIA IN FEBRUARY

YEREVAN, MARCH 1, NOYAN TAPAN. Food commodity prices grew
by 0.2% in Armenia in February 2007. According to the RA
National Statistical Service, 30.1% price growth was registered
in the commodity group of vegetables and potato in February 2007
on February 2006, which is the result of an increase in prices
of onion (3.5%), garlic (19.6%), carrot (27.2%), beet (30.4%),
tomato (60.3%) and potato (45%).
A growth in prices of potato (2.6%), cabbage (6.6%), beet
(3.8%), carrot (4.4%), onion (9%), tomato (1.1%) and garlic
(1.7%) was registered in the country in February on January 2007.
32.2% growth in fruit prices was registered in February
2007 on February 2006, mainly as a result of a growth in prices
of tangerine (13.4%), grapes (0.2%), pear (32.7%), apple (14%)
and banana (0.5%).
1.7% price growth was registered in the commodity group of
fish products in February on January 2007, and 0.3% price growth
in the commodity group of meat products, mainly as a result of a
1.7% growth in beef prices. Prices of pork and mutton fell by
5.4% and 0.6% respectively.
0.5% and 0.1% price fall was registered in the commodity
groups of vegetable oil - butter and confectionery in February
on January 2007, while prices of soft drinks, coffee, tea,
cocoa, milk products, granulated suger, bread products and eggs
remained at the level of the previous month.
