MANAGEMENT PLAN OF "EREBUNI" STATE PRESERVE BEING DEVELOPED

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 17, NOYAN TAPAN. Under the international
program on in-situ protection of wild relatives of cultured
plants through improved management of information and practical
use, an ecogeographic study was done in Armenia, the current and
possible dangers to plants were identified, and the maps of
these plants were drafted. Armen Danielian, the Armenian
program's coordinator, stated this at the 4th sitting of the
program's international board held in Yerevan on October 15-19.
He said that within the framework of this program, work is
also being done in "Erebuni" state preserve. According to A.
Danelian, the management plan of the preserve is under
development now, with data being collected about animals of the
area and photo materials being compiled. The preserve's action
plan for the next 5 years is being developed as part of its
management plan.
A. Danelian said that the 2007-2011 national action plan on
protection of wild relatives of Armenia's cultured plants has
been worked out and will be submitted to the government for
approval by late 2007. The purpose of the action plan is
protection of genetic reserves, in particular, protection of
wild relatives of cultured plants.
