YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 21, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. The results of the 3rd All-Armenian Olympiad of Armenian Language and Literature and the Contest of Armenology were announced at Yerevan's Arno Babajanian Concert Hall on September 20. 107 pupils from 9 countries: 77 from the Diaspora and 30 from Armenia and Artsakh, participated in this annual event held in Tsakhkadzor on September 13-20. The minister of education and science of the RA Levon Mkrtchian welcomed the olympiad participants and read the message of the Armenian prime minister Serge Sargsian. The minister expressed a hope that the number of participants in these contests will gradually increase and form the common All-Armenian educational field. According to him, the purpose of the event is to link children to Homeland and its history. Summarizing the results of the olympiad and contest, the minister announced that the schoolchildren from Armenia are in first place because the Armenian language and literature is taught in a more advanced way in Armenia. He expressed a hope that the picture will change in the future, and representatives of the Diaspora will be among top three.
