79.2% OF CRIMES DISCLOSED IN ARMENIA IN 2006

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 9, NOYAN TAPAN. 79.2% of crimes registered in Armenia were disclosed in 2006 (84.5% in 2005), including 71.6% of grave crimes. Deputy Chief of the RA Police Hovhannes Hunanian said at the February 7 press conference that at the same time the disclosure efficiency of especially grave crimes increased - 80.7% (76.9% in 2005). According to him, the index of disclosure of crimes representing great danger to the society was improved - 69.7% against 68.9% in 2005. The disclosure efficiency was improved in 2006 concerning attempted murder, rape, fraud, property embezzlement. A decline was registered in disclosure efficiency of murders, robberies, house thefts, road accidents with human death, and causing intentional harm to human health. H. Hunanian noted that such notorious crimes as murder of businessman Sedrak Zatikian, murder of head of the State Tax Inspection's Operative Investigation Department Shahen Hovasapian still remain undisclosed. Deputy chief of the RA Police said that in 2006, the disclosure of crimes related to criminal cases suspended in the previous years increased by 18.4% and made 1,442.
