YEREVAN, MAY 19, NOYAN TAPAN. According to official statistics, the Yerevan Hrachya Ghaplanian Dramatic Theater is considered the first among theaters of Armenia by its 64% attendance. But, as Armen Khandikian, the Artistic Head of the Dramatic Theater mentioned in the interview to the Noyan Tapan correspondent, they are not satisfied with it as the theater has worked with a full hall for many years. "We all are again equal in the sense of money and all are half-hungry. I speak about the theater in general," Armen Khandikian mentioned. According to him, the state maybe thinks about theaters, but it is difficult to implement a "surgical" interference in the culture at once. The state today finances 27-28 state theaters. According to Khandikian, if the state is not able to keep those theaters, "we'll in general lose everything." Besides all these, theaters stage not enough interesting performances, the evidence of what is that no performance presented to a state prize recently has deserved prize. However, Armen Khandikian is not of the same opinion with the jury that no work deserving that highest reward of the country has been created. He is sure that its difficult to observe performances by such standards and it is wrong not to award a prize. "According to my information, such a theatrical work that will shock the world is created every year in no country. A new theatrical direction must open for it. And among us, the jury looks for a work that will suddenly shock everybody," Armen Khandikian emphasized.
