PARIS, NOVEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. On November 25 the music of the Armenian duduk (Armenian national pipe) was proclaimed by UNESCO as one of the oral and non-material cultural masterpieces of mankind. In the sphere of non-material cultural inheritance one of the important programs carried out by UNESCO is the proclamation of the masterpieces of mankind's oral and non-material cultural inheritance. This is a program implemented at a large international scale. UNESCO initiated this program in 1997 in order to preserve the cultural inheritance at the international level. The proclamation of the Armenian duduk music as a cultural oral and non-material masterpiece of the mankind is the 3rd one within the above-mentioned program's framework. As Noyan Tapan was informed by the RA Foreign Ministry's Press and Information Department, the program will continue until the Convention comes into effect, and the proclaimed masterpieces will be included in the honorary list of Non-material cultural inheritance attached to the Convention.
