FOUR ARMENIAN CHESS-PLAYERS AMONG FIRST HUNDRED OF FIDE LIST

GENEVA, April 9 (Noyan Tapan). The International Chess
Federation (FIDE) has published the regular rating lists of the
strongets chess-players of the world.
Garri Kasparov, the 13-time world champion (Russia), continues
to preserve the first horizontal line, his individual rating is 2817.
Vishvanatan Anand (India, 2774), Vladimir Kramnik (Russia, 2764),
Peter Leko (Hungaria, 2741), Veselin Potalov (Bulgaria, 2737), Pyotr
Svidler (Russia, 2733), Alexander Morozevich (Russia, 2732), Michale
Adams (England, 2731), Hudit Polgar (Hungaria, 2728) and Ruslan
Ponomaryov (Ukraine, 2722) are the first ten chess-players.
Four Armenian chess-players are among the first hundred
strongest chess-players: Vladimir Hakobian is the 21st (the
individual rating of 2689), Rafayel Vahanian is the 54th (2639),
Smbat Lputian is the 60th (2634) and Gabriel Sargsian is the 89th
(2614).
Chess-players of Armenian origin Sergey Movsisian (Slovakia,
2647) and Levon Aronian (Germany, 2645), who are 50th and 51st,
respectively, also occupy high places.
