If a person has creative ideas and spirit, fitted from God, he looks with another eye upon everything. A potter - painter Vardan Ayvazyan is a creator of this kind, for whom the creating, searching and finding new forms of expression is a necessity of his soul. So, graduating from the department of pottery of the Yerevan State University of Theatre and Art, he opened his art studio, created the environment, where he isolated himself and created. Lots of ceramic examples were created in his studio. At once he was a member of the Painters' Union of the Soviet Union. -What does inspire you to create? - A creative person always creates. Everything can inspire me and give new wings for creating. Creating is a phenomenon that emanates from a spirit. The fact, that a person creates, is a favour given from God, and an artist must justify it and satisfy God. You must strive, struggle and achieve. Nothing happens for free. In kindergarten Vardan Ayvazyan's creations were unique, he didn't sleep at quiet times and was painting in watercolours to participate in art exhibitions. And who would ever have thought that after a few decades he would come back to the same kindergarten, but as a painter - teacher, and would teach children painting and pottery. His delicate treatment of each child had its positive influence on their lives. He gave a lot to his pupils, but also he took from them. This honest communication with children couldn't have its positive influence also on Vardan Ayvazyan's creative development. The clear pattern of thought of children went a long way on his literary art, as when he took his first steps in this sphere, he wrote tales, which is the best result of communication with the children. He has stood by his principles and art even when his eyes betrayed him. So he started to create and express in another way - by writing tales and children's stories. He went on in his own short developing way in literature and could find the form of expression, which is his. His principle is laconism. -What way did you go in the literary art? - At first I have done recordings of tales. Then I started to write. I would never be fond of literature if I look at it as a business. Nothing happens at once. I exhausted the themes that were in my soul, afterwards I started to feel and express everything more and more deeply. In his stories there are presented lots of universal problems ("The Fly", "The Island", "The Chair"). There are a lot of symbols in the stories - significant and very often unintelligible ("The Pit", "The Iron", "The Sparrow"). - How does pottery, painting help you to express your ideas by writing? - When I write, I feel color and volume just as I felt it in pottery. For me in pottery the most important thing was that there were both color and volume in it. My last stories are strongly connected with my pottery art. My pottery works are full with different symbols, which has a big influence on my stories. When I choose a theme, I apprehend it with its whole profundity. There are stories that before writing them I do some researches concerned to the theme, in which my wife and daughter help me. One step stipulates my next step. Vardan Ayvazyan's stories and tales haven't been published, but some of them were published in newspapers. "I'm searching for a person - creative, film director, who will be in a dialogue with me and will hold the same views as me, who aspires to pass the road, which I have still to go. The printing of my tales and stories in the newspaper isn't an end in itself: I have a road to go on".
