The act of commemoration of the 201st anniversary of declaration of the independence of the Argentine Republic took place on June 11.
Government officials, ambassadors, public figures, local press and residents of Argentina in Armenia participated at the ceremony.
During his speech the Ambassador Gonzalo Urriolabeitia highlighted: “The people of Argentina had to overcome many obstacles to be where they are now, the country that can be proud of its diversity, social integration and respect for all personal conditions and decisions, for its social mobility and respect for human rights.
Afterwards he mentioned: “Argentina is a great country that is among 20 countries in the world having the highest GDP and has a highly developed agricultural and technological economy.
Ambassador Urriolabeitia also emphasized that this is a very special year for Argentina and Armenia, because this year we have accomplished 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states, that during these years have honoured the ancient friendship between the peoples, that had its great impetus with the immigration of Amenians, who came to Argentina to achieve what they have achieved: peace, respect, work and progress, but who look back to the motherland of their ancestors to help to build this sister country.”
