Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ashot Hovakimian met experts on Sustainable Development Goals of UNDP Bureau for Policy and Programme Support

On July 24, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ashot Hovakimian received the UN country team on mainstreaming, acceleration and policy support for SDGs of the UNDP Bureau for Policy and Programme Support, who arrived from New York.
 
The goal of the visit of delegation was to get acquainted with the SDGs nationalization process by Armenia, as well as to assist in drafting of the SDGs implementation roadmap and of relevant strategic documents included in the reforms agenda.
 
Deputy Minister Hovakimian presented the strategy adopted by Armenia for the implementation of the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, highlighting the active involvement and effective cooperation of Armenia with UN structures throughout the process of implementation of the Millennium development goals.
 
Note: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted at the 2015 UN Summit, which entered into force on January 1, 2016. It includes 17 goals, which consist of 169 targets involving all the spheres of our daily life, such as eradication of poverty, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, healthcare, education, nature protection etc. It is considered to be the logical continuation of the Millennium Development Goals.
