On 18 October, 2018 the “Lousé” Center for social-rehabilitation of children with disabilities  hosted the official launching event of “Super David vs Fire” educational e-game, which was developed in the frames of cooperation between Save the Children in Armenia and Dasaran Educational Program, with additional support provided by the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Emergency Situations and the RA MES Crisis Management State Academy.
Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian, Spouse of the President of Armenia, Gevorg Hovakimyan, Pro-Rector of the RA MES Crisis Management State Academy, Astghik Movsisyan, Save the Children Armenia Country Team Leader, Suren Aloyan, Founding President of Dasaran Educational Program and other guests were in attendance.
The “Super David vs Fire” game aims to promote awareness among youth on right behavioral norms during fires through innovative experiential learning. It seeks to empower school-aged children and their communities by encouraging their development of the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to prepare for, respond to, and recover from different types of fires - wildfires, house fires and others.

The origins of the current game come from the “Super David” educational e-game, which is already greatly loved and has a wide outreach not only in Armenia, but also beyond its boundaries: the initial “Super David” game was developed in the frames of cooperation between the World Bank Group, RA Ministry of Emergency Situations, the RA MES Crisis Management State Academy and Dasaran Educational Program.
Astghik Movsisyan, Save the Children Armenia Country Team Leader delivered a welcome speech during the official launching ceremony, in which she highlighted the importance of gamified education and stated that disaster risk management should become a culture for the society, and children are the best foundation for developming such culture. Mrs. Movsisyan also stated in her speech that this educational e-game has raised the interest of other Save the Children country offices as well, and so there’s a huge potential for the game’s international expansion beyond Armenia.
- The game “Super David vs Fire” is the best tool to disseminate information and strengthen knowledge on right behavioral norms during fires – not only among children, but also the adults, - stated in his welcome speech Gevorg Hovakimyan, Pro-Rector of the RA MES Crisis Management State Academy.
Further on, Suren Aloyan, the Founding President of Dasaran Educational Program expressed gratitude to all the partners and supporters of this project and stated that the game is now available to 1,107,346 users of Dasaran, including school students, teachers and parents. To ensure wider outreach and to multiply the efficiency of the project, the game is also made Facebook integrated, allowing for the people not connected to Dasaran’s online platform to access the game through their Facebook login credentials.
Noteworthy also, that a group of school students attending the event also had the chance to play the game at the event premises, enthusiastically discovering a new world of safety and security.
