Hidden camcorders have once again fixed the Caucasian leopard

In Y2013, the trap cameras of the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) first fixed the presence of the Caucasian Leopard at the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR). The Leopard’s tail only showed in the frame. The tail which sparked an interesting debate and became quite "Popular."
Back in Y2013, FPWC involved foreign experts to study the case. But a few days later the Leopard appeared in front the camera with all its might.
In Y2019, proclaimed as the year of Caucasian Leopard Conservation in Armenia, a new interesting shot of the Leopard was fixed in the CWR.
Such shots are the best indicators of the effectiveness of the private protected areas (PPA).
The subspecies is listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (ver. 3.1) as "Endangered EN C2a (i)," and the species is "Near Threatened" category. According to IUCN criteria categorized as Critical Criteria CR C2a (i); D.
According to the Red Book of Armenia, it inhabits the Southern and Southwestern parts of Armenia, from the Central and Eastern parts of the Khosrov Forest Reserve to the Armenian-Iranian border, in the Geghama, Zangezur, Vayots Dzor, Bargushat and Meghri mountain ranges.
It is very important for the Caucasian Leopard the availability of difficult-to-reach cliffs that allow the Leopard to hide and suddenly emerge, while hunting Bezoar goats.
