YEREVAN, APRIL 10, NOYAN TAPAN. The most important achievement of the one year of RA President Serzh Sargsyan's tenure is that the March 1 events did not recur in the country. Larisa Alaverdian, a member of the National Assembly Zharangutiun (Heritage) faction, expressed such an opinion at the March 10 parliamentary press briefing. In response to journalists' question she rendered her statement more clear by saying that she considers the above mentioned as the only achievement of the President. OYP faction Chairwoman Heghine Bisharian considers President's efforts aimed at normalizing the relations with Turkey as President's most important step. Attaching importance to improval of relations with the neighboring states, she considered as unprecedented "breaking the ice" between Armenia and Turkey after many years. H. Bisharian mentioned that many Armenians have a rest and work in Turkey, business contacts have been established between the two countries, and establishment of diplomatic relations is necessary for protecting interests of Armenia's citizens in that country. She especially attached importance to opening the border between the two countries, as a result of which, according to the deputy, prices for many goods will fall in Armenia. According to ARFD faction member Vahan Hovhannisian, there are especially no reasons for applauding, as much more could have been done in the country within one year. In his opinion, there are some objective reasons for it such as the world economic crisis and foreign political pressures. However, there are also subjective reasons, in particular, the circumstance that political forces making coalition in different ways perceive the notion "democracy." As the most important achievement the deputy mentioned stability reestablished in the country in the past one year.
