13,994 BABIES BORN IN MATERNITY HOSPITALS OF YEREVAN IN
FIRST TEN MONTHS OF 2008

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 3, NOYAN TAPAN. The number of visits by
Yerevan residents to polyclinics of the city made 1 million 545
thousand in January-September 2008, growing by 7.8% as compared
with the same period of last year, the head of the Health Care
and Social Security Department of Yerevan Municipality Armen
Soghoyan said at the November 3 press conference. The number of
examinations with the use of laboratory equipment made 722,588,
exceeding by 24% the index of the same period of 2007. 109,940
citizens received medicines free of charge, which exceeds by 17%
the respective index of last year.
A. Soghoyan announced that 21,571 patients received medical
services in the clinics under the jurisdiction of Yerevan
municipality in the indicated months of 2008 (12% growth on the
same period of last year). The number of those who received
medical services by the state order system increased by 11.7% as
compared with the first nine months of 2007.
As of November 1, 13,994 babies were born in 10 maternity
hospitals of Yerevan, which exceeds by 7.3% the respective index
of 2007. According to A. Soghoyan, 6,665 pregnant women have
received state certificates on free obstetrics since July 1,
2008.
