YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, NOYAN TAPAN. By data of the State Register of Legal Entities and Private Businessmen of the RA Ministry of Justice, 2,440 commercial legal entities and 11,963 provate businessmen were registered in Armenia in January-August 2008, with their total number making 58,334 and 61,481 respectively as of September 1, 2008. By data of the RA National Statistical Service, 55,516 legal entities and 49,945 businessmen were registered as of September 1, 2007. The number of legal entities grew by 5.1%, that of private businessmen - by 23.1% in one year. 645 legal entities and 1,066 private businessmem were wound up in January-August 2008. 2,440 legal entities, which were registered in January-August 2008, made investments of about 17 bln 614 mln drams (about 57 mln 519 thousand USD). Investments of more than 9 bln 134 mln drams were made in 241 enterprises founded with foreign investments, including investments of over 7 bln 765 mln drams in 140 enterprises founded by only foreign legal entities and citizens, and investments of about 2 bln 58 mln drams in 101 joint ventures.
