On March 29, the U.S. Ambassador hosted a Tea at her residence in celebration of Women’s History Month. The guests of honor were ten high school girls, winners of the “I Carve My Own Future” Essay Contest. In addition, the Ambassador invited a group of Armenian women leaders and encouraged them to share their life stories with these young students. The Ambassador awarded students with Certificates of Achievement and Dictionaries of Contemporary English. The U.S. Embassy partnered with the RA Ministry of Education and Science to organize this essay contest for female high schools students. The students wrote one page essays on their vision of their own future. This competition aimed to inspire young women to contemplate their role in society and to comprehend their own potential to pursue leadership positions. Women's History Month is celebrated in March to recognize the contributions women have made to building the American nation. President Obama proclaimed, “As we honor the women who have shaped our Nation, we must remember that we are tasked with writing the next chapter of women's history. Only if we teach our daughters that no obstacle is too great for them, that no ceiling can block their ascent, will we inspire them to reach for their highest aspirations and achieve true equality.”
