YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 5, NOYAN TAPAN. A negative migration
saldo, which made 2.9 thousand people, was recorded in Armenia
in 2007. It should be mentioned that a positive saldo was
recorded in 2006 making 21.8 thousand people. This information
was provided to a Noyan Tapan correspondent by Vahan
Bakhshetian, the Deputy Head of the Migration Program Department
of the Migration Agency under the RA Ministry of Territorial
Administration. According to him, analyses show that migration
is of seasonal character in connection with New Year
celebrations and departures with regard to jobs abroad. Thus,
a negative migration saldo is usually recorded in January - May,
a positive one in June - July, a negative one in August -
September, and a positive saldo in October - December.
Vahan Bakhshetian also stated that the volumes of passenger
flows are increasing year after year. The general volume of
passenger flows last year made 2 million 643 thousand and 900
people, which is more by 35.9% in comparison with the same
period of the previous year.
