YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, NOYAN TAPAN. 80% of the preparatory
work for winter has already been conducted in the Nor-Nork
community of Yerevan. This statement was made by David
Petrosian, the prefect of the Nor-Nork community, at the
November 1 press conference and added that more than 100 million
drams (approximately 303 thousand U.S. dollars) have been
allocated by the budget of the prefectura. According to him, 443
metal doors, more than 7000 linear meter rain-water tubes have
been placed in the 670 block of houses of the community, a roof
of about 20100 square kilometer general surface has been
repaired. David Petrosian also mentioned that work providing
local heating is being conducted in six kindergartens of the
community and the rest have been provided with a necessary
amount of fuel.
In the words of Surik Ghukasian, the prefect of Davitashen,
the preparatory work for winter cannot be implemented in the
community for 100%, as the prefectura and condominium
associations do not have enough means. According to him, in that
respect there is still a lot to be done and as for
opportunities, they are few.
Both of the prefects mentioned that an increase in the
budgets of the communities is envisaged in 2008. Thus, if the
budget of Nor-Nork made over 1.5 billion drams in 2007, and that
of Davitashen 400 million drams, in 2008 they will make,
correspondingly, 1.7 billion and 460 million drams.
