MEXICO, OCTOBER 1, NOYAN TAPAN. The final tournament of the World Chess Championship finished in Mexico on September 30. Wishvanatan Anand (India) earned 9 out of 14 possible points and gained the title of the world champion. The second and third places were taken by Kramnik and Gelfand, having 8 points each. Then comes Leko with 7 points, Svidler 6.5, Morozevich and Aronian 6 points each, and Grishchuk with 5.5 points. Levon Aronian will take part in the World Cup Tournament to be held in Khanty-Mansiysk in December.
