76 UNAUTHORIZED BUILDINGS DEMOLISHED IN YEREVAN IN

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, NOYAN TAPAN. 76 unauthorized
buildings were demolished in Yerevan after the June decision of
the Yerevan mayor on Prevention and Suspension of Unauthorized
Construction and of Seizures of Land Plots Representing State
Property. The deputy mayor of the city Kamo Areyan said at the
September 24 press conference that in the indicated period, 55
citizens, who had done anauthorozed construction, were fined in
the amount of 200 thousand drams (about 597 USD), 30 ones - 400
thousand drams, and 3 citizens were fined in the amount of 2.5
million drams. Administrative fines of a total of 10 million
drams were transferred to the RA state budget.
According to K. Areyan, henceforth citizens may receive
permission to carry out construction on their own lands from the
community head, while in case of construction on lands
representing state property they must apply to the mayor's
office.
By another decision of the mayor - the Decision on
Construction Work Organization Measures in Yerevan, any urban
developer is, in particular, obliged to prepare the building
site so that construction work will not have a negative impact
on the environment and the safety of traffic in adjacent areas.
K. Areyan announced that members of the appropriate
department (composed of 4 territorial bodies) of the mayor's
office carry out an everyday control at the implementation of
the indicated decisions of the mayor in various communities of
the city.
