TRIAL ON CASE OF ZATIKIAN'S MURDER TO BE HELD BEHIND CLOSED

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, NOYAN TAPAN. The trial on the case
of murder of Sedrak Zatikian, the son of the former prefect of
Yerevan's Malatia-Sebastia community, will be held behind closed
doors starting September 24. Noyan Tapan correspondent learnt
that the court presided over by judge Tigran Petrosian made that
decision on September 23, meeting the request of one of the
defendants, Arsen Arushanian, to secure his defence right.
It should be mentioned that the case was brought to the
court on the part of 3 out of 5 defendants: Arsen Arushanian is
accused of murdering S. Zatikian and passer-by Karine Sargsian
on June 22, 2006, and Artur Hovhannisian and Lusine Ghevondian
of assisting in commitment of the murder. The case on the part
of the defendants being searched for, persons ordering and
instigating the murder, Narek Khachatrian and Stepan Hakobian,
was separated into an individual examination.
The first court sitting fixed for September 14 failed, as
the defendants did not come to the court, the reason of which
was not piblicized. An unprecedented number of Police
representatives was present to provide security at the court.
