YEREVAN, MARCH 9, NOYAN TAPAN. Production of Jermuk Group
company is not harmful to health. Edgar Ghazarian, advisor to
the company president, told this to NT correspondent. He refuted
the claims of the US government's Food and Medicine Agency that
"Jermuk" mineral water imported from Armenia allegedly contains
arsenic exceeding 50 times the permisible norm and is extremely
dangerous for health. According to him, the company has received
no complaints from any US partner or state body.
E. Ghazarian said that any Armenian water contains arsenic,
thanks to which water has salubrious property. The company does
not exceed the permissible norm of arsenic.
In the words of E. Ghazarian, since 2000, the company has
been exporting "Jermuk" to the US and their products are
registered at the US agency. Production of three Armenian
companies producing mineral water is exported to the US. The
agency's statement does not indicate the company whose
production is harmful. E. Ghazarian did not rule out facts of
illegal import and local production of "Jermuk".
