ISSUE OF GRANTING ARMENIA OBSERVER STATUS TO BE DISCUSSED

Consul General in Sao Paulo Ashot Eghiazarian met on February 3
with Amadeo Ribeiro, Director General of the Latin American
Parliament. During the meeting, the provisions of the agreement
to be signed between Armenia and that regional parliament were
agreed on.
According to the RA MFA Press and Information Department,
besides cooperation in various directions, which was included in
the indicated document by mutual consent, A. Ribeiro proposed
that the issue of granting Armenia observer status in the Latin
American Parliament be stipulated in the document as well.
The Latin American Parliament was established in 1964. Its
membership currently numbers 22 regional countries. A protocol
on cooperation was signed between it and the CIS Parliamentary
Assembly in April 2002.
