INTERNATIONAL INTERNET CHESS TOURNAMENT DEDICATED TO 75TH
ANNIVERSARY OF TIGRAN PETROSIAN TO BE HELD

YEREVAN, November 10 (Noyan Tapan). The Armenian Chess
Academy and the Chess Federation will hold the international
internet chess tournament on the occasion of the 75th
anniversary of Tigran Petrosian, a nine-time world champion, on
December 18-23. The teams of Armenia, Russia, France and China
will participate in the tournament. Grand master Smbat Lputian,
Chairman of the Chess Federation, said during the discussion of
problems connected with the organization of the tournament on
November 10 that it is the first tournament held via internet.
It was mentioned that the winning team will receive 20,000
dollars, the team that will place second will receive 15,000
dollars, third - 12,000 dollars and fourth - 8,000 dollars.
According to S. Lputian, a website will be prepared in
English, Armenian, Russian, French and Chinese with the purpose
of the holding of the tournament. The Armenian team consisting
of four people will participate in the tournament from the
"Armenia-Mariott" hotel, where the Web company provides
internet. Smbat Lputian mentioned that it is expected that they
will also agree with "ArmenTel" with the purpose of the
provision of unfailing commuication. The organizations
concerned may also place their advertisement in the website: it
is expected that the website of the tournament will have many
visitors.
Four referees selected from participant-countries will hold
the tournament. By the way, the referee of one country will be
in other country and will watch the game of the local team.
