ARMENIAN MALE CHESS-PLAYERS SHARE SECOND-THIRD PLACES AT
WORLD CHESS OLYMPIAD

YEREVAN, October 29 (Noyan Tapan). The 36th World Chess
Olympiad held in the Spanish city of Calvia on Majorca Island
drew to an end. Only two rounds are left to hold both in the
male and female tournaments.
During regular D 12 the Armenian male national team
finished its game with the American team with a score of 2:2.
Vladimir Hakobian and Rafayel Vahanian drew their games. Levon
Aronian registered victory and Smbat Lputian was defeated. Today
having 31 points the Armenian national team shares second-third
places with the national team of Russia. The national team of
Ukraine which earned 34 points is in the lead.
In D 12 the Armenian female national team was beatten by
the Slovakian team with a score of 0.5:2.5. Elina Danielian and
Nelli Aghinian were defeated, but Lilit Mkrtchian drew her game.
Today the Armenian female chess-players occupy the place among
the third ten of the tournament table.
In next D 13 the Armenian male chess-players will compete
with the chess-players of France and the Armenian women will
compete with the national team of Moldova.
