0.6% price fall was registered in consumer market of Armenia in August 2011. According to the RA National Statistical Service, prices of food commodities fell by 1% in the country, prices of nonfoods – by 0.1% and tariffs of services fell by 0.1%. Consumer price index made 104.8% in August 2011 on August 2010, including index of food commodity prices – 106.9%, of nonfoods – 103%, and index of tariffs – 102.6%. The fall in food commodity prices in August on July 2011 was mainly conditioned by the fall (1.5-13.6%) in prices of fruit, vegetables, and bread. In particular, fruit prices fell by 13.6%, vegetable prices – by 1.5%, and bread prices – by 1.5%, while prices of egg, fish products, butter, and vegetable oil fell by 0.1-0.8%. Dairy produce prices rose by 1.5%, meat prices – by 1.2%, sugar prices – by 0.2%. Prices of confectionery rose by 0.8%, of alcoholic drinks and cigarettes – by 0.8%, and prices of coffee, t ea, cocoa rose by 1.3%. Prices of footwear fell by 3.1%, of cloths and fabrics – by 0.3%, of furniture – by 0.2%, of horticultural sundry – by 0.2%, domestic electric appliances – by 0.1%, detergents - by 0.1%, cultural goods – by 0.1%. Prices of gasoline and diesel fuel rose by 0.1% and 0.2% respectively. 0.6% price fall was registered in consumer market of the country in August of this year. The settlement exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the U.S. dollar remained unchanged.
