Free Blood Donation dedicated to World Blood Day

June 14 is World Blood Day. This day was defined as World Blood Day in 2005 in World Health Assembly. The day was defined as World Blood Day honoured to austian doctor Karl Landshteyner, who in 1930 was given a Nobel Prize for discovering human blood groups. So Youth Foundation of Armenia and Youth Organization of Republican party organized free blood donation dedicated to World Blood Day.The head of Youth Organization of Republican Party Karen Avagyan stated that the organization helds free blood donation for almost 10 years. He informed that before the donation young people who want to donate are being examined by the doctors. Then they are informed about the results of their health condition. And if there are any health problems the organization organizes the treatment of the youth. Mr. Avagyan stated that by this action they solve two main problems: to help the persons who need blood and to examine the youth health condition.As Mr Avagyan informed these kind of actions will be continued. The coordinator of YFA Healthy lifestyle projects Arusyak Poghosyan informend that in this free blood donation take part the students from the state and non-state universities and the representatives of youth organizations. She told that year by year the number of the participants is increasing. She emphasized that in our country there is lack of blood so the doantion is to be the responsibility of each person living in Armenia.
