Orange welcomes the progress of mobile number portability implementation in Armenia

On the 4th of September the “Union of Operators Providing Mobile Number Portability Services” announced a tender for the selection of a centralized database set-up and maintenance provider for mobile number portability implementation. The system will allow to implement the mobile number portability in Armenia from January 2014. On that ocassion, today  during the interview with the journalists Francis Gelibter, the CEO of Orange Armenia noted:
 
“We are very happy to announce that the implementation of mobile number portability service  is progressing. We are confident that thanks to implementation of mobile number portability the mobile communication industry in Armenia will become even more competitive, which in its turn will contribute to improving the quality of services in the country and the customers will only benefit from it” said Francis Gelibter, the CEO of Orange Armenia.
 
As a reminder, on 30th of July 2013, a “Union of Operators Providing Mobile Number Portability Services”  has been established by the three mobile operators of Armenia in order to set up and operate mobile number portability services in Armenia.
 
The mobile number portability will give freedom to customers to choose whichever operator they prefer, while keeping their mobile number. In compliance with RA Public Services Regulatory Commission decree no. 530A  dated December 14, 2012 the service will be launched on January 1, 2014.
