Events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Berlin

On March 27, presentation of a book by Scientific Director of House-Museum of Johannes Lepsius Rolf Hosfeld, entitled “Death in the desert: The Armenian Genocide” was organized at Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

 
Members of Bundestag, the Ambassadors accredited in Germany, politicians and public figures, diplomats, critics, editors and journalists attended the event.
 
Head of Culturural programs of Konrad Adenauer Foundation Rita Sharp delivered welcoming message. In her speech, member of Bundestag Erika Steinbach called on members of her party to voice Armenian Genocide, recognize and condemn it.
 
On March 29, an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was organized at Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Pastor of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church Cornelia Kulawik and Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church Diocese in Germany, Archbishop Karekin Bekdjian delivered welcoming speeches.
 
In his message, Pastor of Berlin Protestant Church Prince Philip Kiril of Prussia, who is great-great-grandson of Kaiser Wilhelm II, apologized to Armenians, noting, “I know, that the pain of the descendants of the victims of the Armenian Genocide is irreversible, however, I request an apology for my grandfather Kaiser Wilhelm II, if you can”.
 
At the end of the event, Chargé d'affaires of Armenia to Germany Ashot Smbatyan also delivered a speech.
