For the First Time the Paintings of Iranian Miniaturists Displayed in Armenia

For the first time Armenian art lovers have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the 54 paintings of dozens of Iranian contemporary miniaturists. The opening of the exhibition took place on March 11 in the National Gallery of Armenia and it was attended by the Deputy Minister of Culture of Armenia Nerses Ter-Vardanyan, the head of Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Armenia Majid Meshkin, the head of Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art Majid Mola Norouzi, the director of the National Gallery of Armenia Arman Tsaturyan.
During the briefing the head of Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art Majid Mola Norouzi informed, that Iranian Art Collection displayed in the National Gallery of Armenia embraces Iranian miniature’s unique and valuable works of the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as interesting samples of Iranian depicted ceramic plates and tiles, textiles and metal of the16th-19th centuries.
According to him, Iranian miniature is very popular in the Art world and it is possible to get acquainted with Iranian culture, philosophy, thought and literature through it.
As the head of Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia Majid Meshkin mentioned, Armenian and Iranian sides were obliged to organize such kind of dialogue earlier because both nations need peace and harmony.
According to him, the miniature was established in Iran then developed in China, afterwards the Iranian miniature finds its honorary place in the world of the painting arts.
As the director of the National Gallery of Armenia Arman Tsaturyan said, a year ago the cultural center of Islamic Republic of Iran organized the exhibition of Armenian-Iranian painter Edman Ayvazyan for deepening bilateral cultural links of the countries. Both in Armenian and in Iran the reaction of it has exceeded expectations.
As A. Tsaturyan mentioned, due to the great interest of this exhibition, the cooperation between two countries continued and now other painters’ exhibitions are also going to organize.
Iranian painter Amir Tahmasebi told the reporter of Noyan Tapan news agency that such exhibitions are very important and they contribute the recognition of the cultures of two nations. His paintings are based on the Iranian poetry, they are abstract and mainly are the result of his imagination: The paintings contain an important message to the world: that is -peace, dialogue and harmony.
Highly appreciating the close relationship of these two countries, earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Iran-Armenian cooperation between the National Gallery of Armenia and Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.
The organizers assured that such kind of exhibitions will organize both in Armenian and in Iran more often.
