The 12th Aram Khachaturian International Competition was launched on June 6 in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall. The spouse of the President of RA Rita Sargsyan who patronizes the competition has attended the ceremony. 
The concert evening was moderated by the director of the Khachaturian Museum, pianist of the Khachaturian Trio Armine Grigoryan and the violinist of the Khachaturian Trio Karen Shahgaldyan. The playlist of the concert was formulated exclusively by the pieces of great Khachaturian. The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia was headed by the Armenian conductors of various generations: Hovhannes Chekijyan, Yuri Davtyan, Constantine Orbelian, Vag Papian, Sergey Smbatyan. Another masterpiece of maestro Khachaturian was conducted by the jury member of the competition, Greek conductor Michalis Ecoonomou. 
 
In the next few days, particularly on June 7, 8 and 9 at 6:00 p.m., the 12 young conductors from 10 countries  will take part in the 1st round launched in the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall and will conduct the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia in front of the jury and the audience.

Worth mentioning that in 2013 the Aram Khachaturian International Competition became a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions. The competition has been organized by the Ministry of Culture of RA, “Aram Khachaturian-Competition” Cultural Foundation and Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. The General Partner of the competition is the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO).
