The 14th Khachaturian International Competition is open for cellists

The 14th Khachaturian International Competition, which will be held in 2018, is open for cellists. The Competition usually launches on June 6, on the birthday of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian and finishes on June 14 with a gala concert.
Khachaturian International Competition is widely-recognized in the whole world. It is the member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions and it is the only Armenian competition ever honored with such a privilege. The competition is held by the standards of this global organization.
The competition is aimed at identifying talented young musicians in five specialties – “Piano”, “Violin”, “Cello”, "Conducting", “Vocal”.
The Competition will be held from June 6 to June 14. The age limit of participants must be not younger than 16 and not older than 32 years inclusive. The Competition consists of Preliminary selection and 3 rounds: 1st round, 2nd round (semifinal), 3rd round (final). No more than 30 participants will be selected to participate in the 1st round of the Competition.
Cash reward in AMD equal to 15,000 USD will be awarded to the 1st prizewinner, cash reward in AMD equal to 10,000 USD will be awarded to the 2nd prizewinner and cash reward in AMD equal to 5,000 USD will be granted to the 3rd prizewinner. The Competition will provide additional special prizes and awards, which will be granted during the closing ceremony of the Competition.
Applications for participation are accepted until April 25, 2018.
The Khachaturian International Competition is being implemented thanks to joint efforts of RA Ministry of Culture, “Aram Khachaturian-competition” Cultural Foundation and Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. It is held under the high patronage of the Spouse of RA President Mrs. Rita Sargsyan, who is Honorary President of the Board of Trustees of the competition. The Board of Trustees includes such well-known figures as: Jonathan Freeman-Attwood, Pavel Kogan, Elizbieta Penderecka, Alexander Sokolov, Alexander Tchaikovsky, Mark Zilberquit, Constantine Orbelian and other significant persons.
The geography of participants is very wide: it incorporates representatives from the CIS countries, U.S., Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Britain, China and other countries.
