Ucom Cooperates with World Famous Sparkle, which Expands Its Reach in the Caucasus Region with a New Point of Presence in Armenia

Located at Yerevan, the new PoP will support the increasing demand for IP services coming from the local market, the Caucasus region and the Middle East
Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top ten global operators, announces the expansion of its IP backbone reach in the Caucasus region with the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Yerevan, Armenia.
Opened in partnership with Ucom, the fastest fixed and mobile service provider in Armenia, the new PoP is fully integrated with Sparkle’s global Tier-1 IP transit service Seabone, among the top 10 Internet networks worldwide, to provide premium high-speed Internet connectivity - 100Gb multiples - with the highest level of availability and resiliency.
The PoP in Yerevan is set to support the increasing demand of internet connectivity coming from the local market. In addition, it extends Sparkle’s IP backbone reach in the region, providing to OTTs, Internet Service Providers, Content and Application Providers a terrestrial and more direct IP transit route in the Caucasus region with lower latency compared to the traditional paths.
DDoS Attack Mitigation - which grants Seabone customers the option to protect their network – and the Virtual NAP solution - which allow customers to access the main Internet Exchange Points without the need of building any proprietary infrastructure - complete Sparkle’s portfolio of services offered via the Yerevan PoP.
The new PoP in Yerevan is a further step towards Sparkle’s ambition to expand into the Caucasus and accelerate the development of digital and value added services in the region.
