“iGorts” Offers Unprecedented Opportunity for Diaspora Armenians to Lend their Expertise in Armenia’s State Institutions

The Republic of Armenia’s Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs launched the “iGorts” 2021 program, which will place up to 50 Diaspora Armenian professionals, with relevant academic credentials and work experience, inside Armenia’s ministries and state institutions.
Taking place for the second year in a row, applications are open until the April 15th deadline and available to complete in English, Armenian and Russian. Following the application process, shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview, and those selected will be appointed, for a term of one year, to the corresponding state institutions.

The “iGorts” program is the first time in the history of the Republic of Armenia where the state invites Diaspora Armenian professionals en masse to work inside of the government and finances it fully without any external funding. The program not only offers an unparalleled public service opportunity, but also opens a new window for Diaspora Armenian professionals to establish a deeper connection with the homeland on the institution-building level.

The Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs initially launched “iGorts” in the Spring of 2020 with the intent of driving the process of nation-building forward and to further strengthen the Armenia-Diaspora relationship. Currently, 51 Diaspora Armenians from 19 different countries serve in 19 state institutions.

All accepted candidates will receive benefits such as a roundtrip air ticket, one-year residency permit, monthly living stipend and emergency medical insurance. The 2021 program will begin on September 1st and will last for 12 months.

If you would like to apply to the “iGorts” program, please find the application here. For any questions about the program, contact diasporafellowships@gov.am or call our office at (+374) 10 51-55-14.
