YEREVAN, JUNE 20, NOYAN TAPAN. The court of first instance of Yerevan's Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun communities (chaired by Judge Vardan Abrahamian) will soon start examining a criminal case against 7 employees of ArmenTel company, NT correspondent was informed from the court's office. V. Abrahamian is on vacation, so the day of court examination will be announced next week. The RA Prosecutor General's Office has transferred the case to the court on May 25. According to the information on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office, the criminal case was opened based on the fact of embezzlements committed by ArmenTel employees in 2002-2005. A damage of 104 mln drams, including damage of 53 mln drams to the RA state budget, was done as a result of embezzlement and abuse of power. During the investigation, the accused persons recovered the damage to the state, as well as damage of 7 mln drams (about 15.6 thousand USD) to ArmenTel. The following persons are defendants in this criminal case: acting head of the Planning, Marketing and Tariff Unit of ArmenTEl's Local Communication Service Department Rafik Ghazarian, senior accountant of the Goris Telecommunication Region of the company's southern territory Gagik Sargsian, senior accountant of the the Tumanian Telecommunication Region of ArmenTel's northern territory Aramayis Tatoyan, engineer of the Subscriber Service Department of ArmenTel Spitak Office Samvel Pilosian, the same office's senior account Elza Dallakian and manager Lena Hovhannisian, employee of the Spitak region's technical workshop Hmayak Hakobian. Arrest as a measure of restraint was chosen only with respect to R.Ghazarian, while the remaining 6 persons gave a written undertaking not to leave the place.
