YEREVAN, December 15 (Noyan Tapan). "She is one of the
greatest singers of our nation whose coloratura soprano,
peculiar timbre, masterly technique and skill of performance
amazed the world." Professor Sergey Sarajian, Rector of Yerevan
Conservatoire after Komitas, expressed such opinion about Gohar
Gasparian in his interview to Noyan Tapan. According to him, the
singer's star sparkled on the Armenian opera stage for 40 years
and enjoyed the love of the nation.
"We have always been proud of Gohar Gasparian's art and
have been happy that there are such Armenians. But being proud isn't
enough, we should be attentive to the great people of our nation
and venerate them while they are alive," S.Sarajian mentioned.
According to him, the singer continues teaching in the
Conservatoire and training a new generation of singers who will
continue her activity in the future. According to S.Sarajian,
Ellada Chakhoyan, Anahit Mkhitarian, Gayane Grigorian, Arus
Karapetian and Christine Sahakian are the singer's pupils
who became laureates of international competitions and became
well-known. "Of course, there will be good singers in the
future, but there will hardly be such bright individualities
like Gohar Gasparian and Tigran Levonian," professor Sarajian
mentioned.
He mentioned that it's envisaged to organize a republican
competition of singers after Gohar Gasparian in 2005. In the
future, after the extension of the circle of participants the
competition will become international.
