Armenian Assembly of America organizes forum with U.S.Census Bureau

LOS ANGELES, FEBRUARY 18, NOYAN TAPAN-ARMENIANS TODAY.According to aaainc.org U.S. Census Bureau PartnershipSpecialist Anahit Tovmasyan was on hand at a recent professionalforum organized by the Armenian Assembly in downtown LosAngeles. Attended by Assembly intern alumni and the growingnetwork of young professionals from the greater Los Angelescommunity. Assembly Western Region Director Yeghig Keshishiandelivered the opening remarks, alluding to the Assembly'spartnership with the 2010 U.S. Census. 'An accurate Census countof Armenian-Americans will ensure that Armenians will have astronger voice and better political representation to addressthe needs of our community. Especially in these hard economictimes, we need to make sure that the communities we work, live,pray and play in have access to their share of resources.Through the collaborative efforts of faith and community basedorganizations, schools, and businesses, we can make sure allArmenians are counted,' stated Anahit Tovmasyan. 'On behalf ofthe Assembly, I would like to express our appreciation to Anahitand the Census Bureau for their determination in seeing thatevery person is counted in the 2010 Census. The central purposein organizing these professional forums is to provide ourcommunity a voice and an opportunity to assume a direct role inArmenian affairs,' stated Keshishian.
