ARMENIAN DRAM APPRECIATES BY 10.5% AGAINST DOLLAR IN ONE

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. The 4.2% growth of consumer prices in Armenia in September 2008 on December 2007 was accompanied by a 0.5% fall in the settlement exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the US dollar. According to the RA National Statistical Service, 0.5% and 0.2% growth in consumer prices and the exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the dollar (the dollar appreciated) respectively was recorded in Armenia in September on August 2008. In the same period of 2007, there was a fall of 0.2% and 7.3% in consumer prices and the exchange rate of the Armenian dram respectively. The average settlement exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the U.S. dollar made 302.57 drams in September 2008, which was lower by 10.5% than the index of September 2007 (338.2 drams).
