YEREVAN, September 14 (Noyan Tapan). On September 14, the
Armenian premiere of the "Artsakh" documentary film shot by the
scenario of Zvart Galstian-Gevorgian, an Armenian journalist
living in New York, took place in the National Library of
Armenia. The film shot in 1988, which, according to
Z.Galstian-Gevorgian, had been shown in different countries of
the world before, represents the beginning of Armenian national
renaissance, as well as struggle for Karabakh independence.
The author of the scenario said that the film was shot upon
the initiative of Archbishop Mesrop Ashchian who gave her some
video tapes about the 1988 February events of Armenia. Then the
Archbishop suggested her to unite all these video tapes, to write
a scenario and make a film. According to Z.Galstian-Gevorgian,
Archbishop Ashchian's goal was to represent the real picture of
Karabakh movement to the world without distorting it. "I was to
write brave things, which was difficult, but I am Armenian and I
have done my sacred duty," she mentioned.
It was also mentioned that the film was translated into
English by Ara Gabrielian, poet Gevorg Emin's nephew. According
to Z.Galstian-Gevorgian, the American press has written about
the film for many times and many Americans got acquainted with
the Armenian people by means of the "Artsakh" film.
