Armenian government approves small aviation development
concept

YEREVAN, JANUARY 8, NOYAN TAPAN. At the January 8 sitting,
the Armenian government approved the small aviation development
concept. It was stated that the development of small aviation is
of strategic importance to Armenia and will enable to organize
efficiently air transport services, agricultural, rescue, air
patrol and observation, research, cartographic and other
activities with a great saving of time, as well as to operate
planes for personal use. As a result, dynamic connection and
economic integration of marzes (provinces) will be ensured as
well. The development of small aviation will also contribute to
efficient and profitable activities of the tourism sector.
As NT was informed by the RA Government Information and PR
Department, the government also approved the bill on making
amendments and additions to the RA Law on Aviation. The bill
will be submitted to the RA National Assembly in order envisaged
by law. The adoption of the law is conditioned by the necessity
to bring the current law into line with modern requirements, and
to introduce and use the amendments made in the 1944 Chicago
Convention and the documents of the International Civil Aviation
Organization in Armenia's civil aviation.
By yet another decision, the government approved the bill
on the minimim coverage amounts for insuring the responsibility
of aircraft operators. The bill proposes stipulating the
compensation sums for damage done to passengers, cargos,
aircarft crews and third persons in case of air crashes and
incidents - in accordance with the provisions of the Montreal
Convention and the EU requirements.
