Levon Aronian with the blacks was defeated by Boris Gelfand at the fifth stage, held on September 18, of the final tournament of the Chess World Championship, which is held in Mexico. Wishvanatan Anand defeated Peter (Pyotr) Svidler, Alexandre Morozevich was defeated by Alexandre Grishchuk, and the game between Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Leko ended in a draw. Wishvanatan Anand is in the lead of the tournament with 3.5 points after 5 stages. V. Kramnik, A. Grishchuk, and B, Gelfand have three points, P. Leko, A. Morozevich, and L. Aronian 2 points each, P. Svidler has 1.5 points. Levon Aronian will compete with Peter (Pyotr) Svidler with the blacks at the 6th stage on September 19.
