REPORT ON ARMENIA TO BE GIVEN AT FATF AND MONEYVAL
CONFERENCE

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 14, NOYAN TAPAN. The first conference of
the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the CE Committee of
Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures
(MONEYVAL) will be held at the Council of Europe (CE) on
February 21-23. A report on Armenia will be given at the
conference.
NT was informed from the CE Armenia Information Office that
having the purpose to develop international cooperation in the
fight against money laundering and terrorism financing, about
400 participants of the conference will examine FATF's mutual
evaluation report on Turkey and MONETVAL's 3rd stage mutual
evaluation report on Georgia. The reports submitted by Cyprus
and Azerbaijan will be discussed as well.
The problem of abusing the value added tax (VAT) system and
the problem of money laundering in South America are also on the
agenda of the FATF and MONEYVAL conference.
Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis will
open the conference on February 21.
46 CE member states are members of MONEYVAL Committee. 33
countries are FATF members.
