INTERNATIONAL TENDER ON PASSING ARMENIAN RAILWAY FOR
CONCESSIONAL MANAGEMENT TO BE ANNOUNCED IN JULY

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. The international tender
for passing the Armenian railway for concessional management
will be announced in July. The RA Minister of Transport and
Communication Andranik Manukian told reporters on February 13
that companies from Russia, France, Ukraine and Kazakhstan
currently show interest in the railway's management.
A. Manukian said that the railway will not be privatized,
it will remain the property of the Republic of Armenia. The
manager must make a concessional payment of 10 million dollars
and 2% of turnover. The tariffs will be set by the RA Public
Services Regulatory Commission.
According to the minister, about 170 million dollars is
necessary to replace the railway lines and trains. Their
operation term will expire in two years.
