YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The International Day of
Psychical Health is marked on October 10. As Noyan Tapan
correspondent was informed by Maruke Yeghian, the Chairman of
the Association of Children's Psychiatrists and Psychologists,
nearly 7-15% of Armenia's population has serious problems
connected with psychical health. Nearly 3000 3-21-year-old
patients are currently registered in the database of
Association's center. However, according to M. Yeghian,
according to calculation data, this number is more than ten-fold
larger in the country. He said that children have both some
types of psychical diseases and feeling of fear, bad mood,
various disorders of behaviour.
According to M. Yeghian, diseases connected with psychical
health are mainly curable: there are various methods of
treatment: psychotherapy, treatment by medicines, and others.
However, according to him, Armenian society does not seriously
treat the issue of keeping psychical health.
It should be mentioned that serious psychical disorders are
cured in Armenia within the framework of state order, with full
provision of medicines.
