An exhibition of applied art works by the distinguished Armenian film director Sergei Parajanov opened on October 22 within the framework of the 35th International Film Festival in Sao Paulo. Among those present were Armenian Ambassador to Brazil Ashot Yeghiazarian, representatives of city and regional authorities, members of the Brazilian Armenian community, and journalists. Films directed by Parajanov and a documentary about him were demonstrated during the film festival. An exhibition of Armenia’s photos taken by Zaven Sargsyan – an Armenian photographer, Director of the Parajanov Museum in Yerevan – was staged in parallel with the exhibition of works by Parajanov. The event was covered by the Brazilian press and television. The local mass media considered the exhibition of works by the world-famous director as the most important event of Sao Paulo’s cultural life in October.
