As part of the International 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, IREX Armenia and the Women's Resource Center is teaming up to present the documentary film "Miss Representation" at the American University of Armenia’s Manoogian Hall. The documentary (http://vimeo.com/28066212) "uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. The film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls " (www.missrepresentation.org). Join us in our movement in improving female representation in Armenia’s media. Join panel speakers Artak Aleksanyan of ArmNews, Lilit Asatryan of the Armenian Young Women’s Association (and a former Deputy Minister), gender specialist Jina Sargizova, and Lara Aharonian of the Women’s Resource Center as they discuss the Armenian reality. Audience members will include well known Armenian script writers, producers, actresses, government officials, journalists, international NGO representatives, and others. Come ready to hear the panel engage in constructive dialogue about Armenia’s context and be prepared to write down your ideas on how to improve women’s representation in media.
