Jan 11 (AFP -NT) - US President Bill Clinton will visit
the main US military rear base in Hungary Saturday afternoon and
will meet with top government officials, a defense ministry
spokesman said Thursday.
Clinton would arrive at the southern Taszar military airbase
from the Bosnian city of Tuzla and would travel on to the
Croatian capital Zagreb after an up to three-hour visit.
The US President is due to briefly meet Hungarian President
Arpad Goncz, Prime Minister Gyula Horn, Foreign Minister Laszlo
Kovacs and Defense Minister Gyorgy Keleti in Taszar.
About half of the troops are part of NATO's Implementation Force
(IFOR) while the other half belongs to a supply contingent, to
be boosted to 7,000 to serve the 20,000-strong US IFOR
contingent in Tuzla.
The White House said that in addition to Bosnia, Hungary and
Croatia, Clinton would also stop in Italy during his brief
