Jan 9 (NT - AFP) - French Foreign Minister Herve de Charette on Tuesday opened a conference in Paris on economic aid to Palestinians, which participants are expecting to generate pledges worth a total of 500 million dollars roughly in line with the amount requested by Palestinians. The ministerial conference, held under the auspices of the European Union, is being attended by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, representatives of 39 nations and a dozen international and regional organisations.
