GEGHARKUNIK, SEVAN, MAY 30, NOYAN TAPAN. Only 11 communities of the 92 ones of the marz of Gegharkunik have family doctors today. The family doctor's institute started to function in the marz starting from 2000 when medical out-patients' clinics were built by the World Bank financing and re-training of "family doctor's" staff. The family doctor's role is today especially attached much importance to in high mountainous and bordering communities of the marz of Gegharkunik, and as Gurgen Davtian, the Chief of the Gegharkunik Regional Governor's Office's Health Care Department mentioned in the interview to the Noyan Tapan correspondent, everything will be done in coming years in those communities where there is family doctor's demand to put in the corresponding service at places. For that purpose the Regional Governor's Office's Health Care Department sends regularly corresponding specialists to pass training. Most part of specialists has already been re-trained and starts work in different communities. Other 10 doctors will leave for Yerevan this year for 6-month re-training within the framework of the same program.
